Fishing
The on site fishing lake is an exclusive facility available free of charge to our guests only, and is positioned just 400 metres from the holiday cottages along a dedicated footpath.
The fish species include common, mirror and crutian carp, bream, roach, rudd, barbel and tench, with the lake now becoming well established, with good sized fish being caught.
There is a small lakeside fishing lodge available for storage of fishing equipment which also can be used for the fisherman´s partner or family to sit and relax and watch the fishing in progress, a picnic table and chairs are provided.
Many trees and shrubs have been planted around the lake, and these are now becoming well established, along with a variety of wild flowers which have encouraged a wide selection of wildlife. The Barn Owl uses the area as a regular hunting ground at certain times of the year.
Even if you do not fish, you can enjoy a stroll around the lake, -especially tranquil in the early evening when the fish can be seen rising.
To complement the lake we also have half a mile of fishing rights along the Louth canal (subject to a closed season and EA licence) which is positioned next to the cottages. This also provides a variety of fish, and is regarded as a challenge for the dedicated fisherman, but the amateur can also have good fishing.
