Fishing Lake in the Heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds

Set within the peaceful countryside of the Lincolnshire Wolds, our private fishing lake at Canal Farm offers the perfect escape for anglers and nature lovers alike.

In 2006 the heavy clay field in front of Canal Farm was transformed into a thriving wildlife conservation area complete with a beautifully landscaped lake. Surrounded by native British trees and hedgerows, the lake has matured over the past 20 years into a tranquil haven for fishing and wildlife.

The lake is well stocked with a variety of coarse fish, including mirror, common and crucian carp, barbel, rudd, roach, and tench. With minimal fishing pressure, our waters produce healthy, strong fish. The current record being a 21lb carp caught in 2024

Fishing here is exclusively for guests staying in our holiday cottages, ensuring a peaceful, private experience. Just a short 400-metre stroll along a dedicated track from the cottages, the lake offers both relaxation and excitement for anglers of all levels.

Guests also enjoy the lakeside walk, where evenings often bring the magical sight of a barn owl hunting or swallows gliding over the water in summer. The famous Lincolnshire skies create unforgettable reflections. From golden sunsets to endless blue horizons.

A lakeside fishing lodge is available for storing equipment and offers a quiet spot for partners or family members to sit back and relax. A picnic table and chairs are provided, making it a perfect place to enjoy the surroundings while the fishing is in full swing.

Fishing rules

We respectfully request that the following rules are observed:

  • All anglers should hold a valid EA Rod Fishing Licence.

  • Fishing is from Dawn to Dusk only, No night fishing.

  • Ensure all landing nets are thoroughly dry before first use in the lake.

  • Barbless hooks only (Max size 10).

  • No keep nets.

  • All fish to be returned to the lake.

  • Under 14’s to be always accompanied by an adult.

  • Bait bans – Bloodworm and joker, nuts, cat and dog meat, trout pellets.

  • Ground bait and carp pellets are allowed.

  • Maximum of two rods per angler – rods are not to be left unattended.

  • Do not touch the aerator plug or cable, please also be aware of fishing near the aerator due to underwater ropes.

  • All fish must be unhooked on an unhooking mat, these are available if you do not have your own.

  • Please bring all rubbish back from the lake and dispose of within the cottage bins, do not leave any rubbish in the fishing hut.

Vehicles:

Vehicles are not permitted around the lake, however, for guests with limited mobility we are able to make an exception.

Pellets:

  • The Canal Farm fish are regularly fed with special pellets to maintain fish health.

  • To save guests transporting substantial amounts of pellets we are now pleased to offer the Canal Farm Pellets at £3.50 per KG (6mm Fishery Feed Pellets).

  • These are available for purchase on arrival.

  • Yes, as with any coarse fishing in England, you’ll need a valid Environment Agency rod licence, which you can easily purchase online or at local Post Offices.
